The staff at Dr. Shankland’s office in Westerville are dedicated to providing the best possible service to our patients. They are very knowledgable in their fields, and most have been with him for many years.
Sherry McCutcheon
Office Manager
Sherry first came to our office as a patient, not really expecting to, but becoming a valuable member of our staff in 1985. She brought with her 10 years of administrative and business knowledge and utilized that experience to expertly organize and manage our growing, busy dental office. She has been on both “sides of the desk” and understands the patient concerns regarding treatment, finances, and insurance. Sherry is a licensed medical transcriptionist and administrative secretary. She currently holds the honor of working for us the longest – over 30 years! She is involved as a Women’s ministry leader, sings on the worship team at her community church, and is a writer/singer/songwriter. Sherry resides in Pataskala with her husband, daughter and dachshund, Samson.
Kay Gentry
Clinical Coordinator
Kay came to our office in 1986 with years of work experience, not only in the dental field but with skills in leadership, dentistry, practical and technical knowledge. Kay is our Clinical Coordinator overseeing the management and clinical functions of our office. She is also an experienced laboratory technician. Her kind and compassionate understanding of those suffering with TMJ disorders has earned her the respect and love of the many patients she serves. She has been specially trained to work with both TMJ and sleep disorder patients. Kay is a gifted guitarist, singer/songwriter and shares her talent with the worship team at her church and in other outreach ministries. She attended the Institute for Christian Training (David Wilkerson School) and became an ordained minister in 1990.
Melissa Cremeans
Surgical Dental Assistant
Melissa has been with us since 1986. She has been personally trained by Dr. Shankland and is exclusively his surgical assistant. She attended dental assisting school, has had many continuing education courses and is a licensed radiologist. Fortunately for our office, Melissa has many skills and is always a willing servant in all departments. Her patients benefit greatly from her years of experience with Dr. Shankland as she expertly tends to them before, during and following surgery. Her compassionate heart makes her an excellent chairside assistant. Melissa enjoys her life in the country as she has a large home with a park-like backyard. She loves music and has been on the special worship team at her church. She has three grown children and is soon to be an empty-nester!
Jewel Neuberger
Front Office Coordinator
Jewel joined our office in 2014 and has become a valuable asset utilizing her previous experiences and skills in working with patients. With no prior experience in a dental office, she has taken the challenge to a new level to learn dental terminology, patient care, and records management. She has even taught us a few things! When you call our office, you will be greeted by a kind, friendly voice who will provide you with excellent care to your requests. Jewel enjoys free time at her lake home which she currently is renovating. She loves spending time with family and friends and has two adult children.
Sydney Bauer
Dental Hygienist
- I graduated from Rhodes State College in May, 2019 with my associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene.
- My favorite part of my job is being able to change people’s perspective on going to the dentist and make it something to look forward to. The best way to get a patient excited about their oral health is to make each appointment painless, thorough, comforting, and one that leaves the patient feeling confident and educated. I have a strong passion for patient education and designing an individualized oral routine that works best for each patient. The most rewarding part of my job are the smiles I get to see when we reach a goal together.
- I am married to dentistry! My husband was one of my first ever patients in dental hygiene school.
- I started working for Dr. Shankland’s office in July, 2020 and knew it was the perfect fit for me.
- I got married in October, 2020.
- I have two ragdoll cats named Miggy and Moe.
- I enjoy traveling, backpacking, hiking, camping and sometimes we take our cats with us. They enjoy walking on leashes and being carried on our backs in their catpacks.
- I became an army wife in February, 2021 after George received the Army HPSP scholarship for all 4 years of dental school. He started dental school at The Ohio State College of Dentistry in August, 2021.
- I plan to pursue my EFDA in the near future to advance my clinical skills.
- I like spending time with family, friends, cooking, videography, staying active outdoors, and booking plane tickets. I also enjoy going to art and history museums, attending performances at the Columbus Performing Arts Center, going to OSU hockey/football games, comedy shows, and anywhere with live music.
